    General This document describes the installation and configuration of the Varian ProStar 400 Autosampler driver. It also explains how to build a control method for this driver, how to start and view a running acquisition, and what actions are available during an analysis.

    Depending on the instrument, different hardware resources can be used by the drivers to communicate with the chromatographic system. The following section gives details about the configuration of the resources used by the ProStar 400 Autosampler module. Start the Communication Server Configuration program from the START / PROGRAMS / GALAXIE menu.

    If the answer is Yes, the instrument device configuration screens appear.   • Page 23 The control section must be defined in order to start an acquisition. In the following part of this guide, only the control section for the Varian ProStar 400 Autosampler is detailed. Other parameters such as Injection Volume, Vial and Rack number may be necessary and are defined in the acquisition section of the method.

    “F” and “4” buttons on the Autosampler. The Autosampler becomes in a serial mode. If you want to manually use the Varian ProStar 400, press the “F and “0” buttons on the Autosampler. Once the new method is created, select the control section in the lower part of the browser.

    Click on the button to display the ProStar 400 control method section. It contains only one sub-section: Injection. Click on this sub-section to define the corresponding parameters that will be used during the chromatographic run.
  • Page 26 Select one of the four available choices, to specify how the sample loop is to be flushed: None, Flush volume (µl), Flush time or Partial loopfill (if installed on the Varian ProStar 400 Autosampler). None: the injection is done manually.

    Varian ProStar 400 Autosampler Status Click on the button corresponding to the Prostar 400 Autosampler driver and the autosampler status screen will appear. It contains three sub-sections: Status, Remote Control, Tray Cooling and Overview. Click on the required sub-section to display the corresponding parameters that will be used during the chromatographic run.
