Troubleshooting
Sound
There is no sound.
, Check that the player is connected securely.
, The audio connecting cord is damaged. Replace it
with a new one.
, Make sure you connect the player to the audio
input connectors on the receiver (amplifier). (page
11)
, Make sure you turn on the TV and the receiver
(amplifier).
, Make sure you select the appropriate input on the
receiver (amplifier) so that you can listen to the
sound from the player.
, The player is in pause mode or in Slow-motion
Play mode. Press H to return to normal play
mode.
, The player is in fast forward or fast reverse mode.
Press H to return to normal play mode.
, Check the speaker connections and setting (page
13, 59). Refer to the operating manual of your
receiver (amplifier).
, If you use the DIGITAL OUT connectors, set
"DIGITAL OUT" to "ON" in the setup display.
Otherwise no sound will come from the DIGITAL

, When you play DTS sound tracks, sound will only
come out from the DIGITAL OUT OPTICAL or
COAXIAL connector. (page 18)
Sound is noisy.
, Clean the disc.
, When you play a CD with DTS sound tracks, noise
will come from any connector other than the
DIGITAL OUT OPTICAL or COAXIAL connector.

The sound loses its stereo effect when you play a

The surround effect is difficult to hear when you
are playing a Dolby Digital sound track.
, Check the speaker connections and setting (pages
13, 59). Refer to the operating manual of your
receiver (amplifier).
, Depending on the DVD, the output signal may not
be the entire 5.1 channels. It may be monaural or
stereo even if the sound track is recorded in Dolby
Digital, MPEG, or DTS format.
The sound comes from the center speaker only.
, Depending on the disc, the sound may come from
the center speaker only.
, Set "VIRTUAL 3D SURROUND" to "OFF" in the
Control Menu display. (page 35)
Operation
The remote does not function.
, Remove any obstacles between the remote and the
player.
, Use the remote near the player.
, Point the remote at the remote sensor
player.
, Replace all of the batteries in the remote with new
ones if they are weak.
The disc does not play.
, There is no disc inside ("Insert disc." appears on
the TV screen).
Insert a disc.
, Insert the disc correctly with the playback side
facing down on the disc tray.
, Clean the disc.
, The player cannot play CD-ROMs, etc. (page 5)
Insert a DVD, a VIDEO CD, or CD.
, Check the region code of the DVD. (page 4)
, Moisture has condensed inside the player. Remove
the disc and leave the player turned on for about
