Troubleshooting

If you run into any problems using your camcorder, use the following table to troubleshoot
the problem. If the problem persists, remove the power source and contact your Sony dealer.
Overall operations
The power does not turn on.
• The battery pack is discharged, running low, or not attached to the camcorder.
• Attach a charged battery pack to the camcorder (p. 11).
• Use the AC Adaptor to connect to a wall socket (p. 11).
The camcorder does not operate even when the power is set to on.
• Disconnect the AC Adaptor from the wall socket or remove the battery pack, then reconnect
it after about 1 minute. If the functions still do not work, press the RESET button (p. 27)
using a sharp-pointed object. (If you press the RESET button, all settings, including the
clock setting, are reset, except the Personal Menu items.)
[DEMO MODE] does not start.
• Eject the cassette and "Memory Stick Duo" from your camcorder (p. 19, 20).
The camcorder gets warm.
• The camcorder may get warmer while you use it. This is not a malfunction.
Batteries/Power sources
The power abruptly turns off.
• When approximately 5 minutes have elapsed while you do not operate your camcorder, the
camcorder is automatically turned off (A.SHUT OFF). Change the setting of [A.SHUT OFF]
(p. 59), or turn on the power again (p. 14), or use the AC Adaptor.
• Charge the battery pack (p. 11).
The CHG (charge) lamp does not light while the battery pack is being charged.
• Slide the POWER switch up to OFF (CHG) (p. 11).
• Attach the battery pack to the camcorder correctly (p. 11).
• No power is supplied from the wall socket. (p. 11).
• The battery charge is completed (p. 11).
The CHG (charge) lamp flashes while the battery pack is being charged.
• Attach the battery pack to the camcorder correctly (p. 11). If the problem persists, disconnect
the AC Adaptor from the wall socket and contact your Sony dealer. The battery pack may be
damaged.
