PREPARATION (CONT.) Tools needed You will need the following tools to install the fan. If you are installing an outlet box, additional tools may be necessary. - Page 10 MOUNTING (CONT.) Step 2. Installing the lower cover With the fan still positioned upside-down on the work aid, remove the protective covering from the bottom of the fan. With the fan still in the upside-down position, align the three tabs on the lower cover with the three slots in the undersides of the airfoils and secure.

Wiring the fan With the fan hanging from the safety cable, connect the fan wires to the ceiling wires by twisting the ends together and securing them with wire nuts. Refer to the chart and wiring diagram on the following page to determine the wire connections.

OPERATION (CONT.) Reversing the direction of rotation Haiku reduces heating costs in the winter by pushing warm air at the ceiling level down to floor level. Because of the aerodynamic design of Haiku’s airfoils, this is done most efficiently by operating the fan in the forward direction (counterclockwise when viewed from the floor) with the speed at the slowest setting so that you do not feel a draft from the fan. -
