CYLINDER HEAD COVER AND CYLINDER HEAD
A.
Construction
The
cast
iron
cyl inder
head
cover
has
rocker
arms
installed
which
transmit
the
motion
from
the
push
rods to the
valves.
Lubricating oil passing through
the
cylinder and cylinder head jets from
a
nozzle in the
cylinder
head
cover,
lubricates
rocker
arms
and
valves
and
returns
to the crankcase
through
an
oil passage
from
the
cylinder
head.
The cylinder
head has a dome-shaped
combustio
n
chamb er
which is excellent for
provid-
ing
good
combustion.
The
valves are
fitted directly through the
cylinder
head and
there
are
no
valve !;Uides.
The disp:acement of
the combustion
chamber is
16.7
±
0.2
cc when the
valves
are
c:osed
and a
spark
p:ug
fitted
.
Along
w
ith
the
cylinder,
the cylinder hea::l
and
cylinder
head cover are mounted on
the
crankcase at
a
10
°
upward
angle.

Disassembling

.
Remove
8 mm
nut
and cap
nut
a:1d
take off cy!i.1der
head
cover.

.
Pull
out inlet and exhuast push rods.
3.
Remove
cyli:1der
head.
CAUTION
When remov ing head,
be
careful not to damage cylinder
gasket
and
0-ring.

Assembl:ng

Place
cylinder
gasket
and
0-ring
in positio:1 on cylinder and mount cylinder
head,
tak-
ing care not to
damage
!;asket.

.
Insert
inlet and
exhaust
push rods.
Be sure
they are
in
the right positio:1
:
the inlet
push rod
is longer than
the exhuast push rod.

.
Mount cylinder
head
cover,
making sure there
are
no leaks, and tighten the nuts in the
sequence shown
in
Fig.
3·1

CAUTION
Be sure the steel balls at the
end
of the push rods fit the rocker arms properly before
tightening the nuts.

Adjust tappet clearance
