Controller with CompactFlash Support
To use the information described in this document, it is necessary to have the
CompactFlash card formatted to a FAT16 file system. Allen-Bradley
CompactFlash cards (1784-CF64) are pre-formatted to a FAT16 file system
and are ready to use. If the CompactFlash card needs to be formatted, it can be
done two ways: by using a personal computer with a CompactFlash card reader
or by using RSLogix 5000 software and a Logix5000 controller with
CompactFlash support.
The card can be formatted using a Windows-based operating system on a
personal computer with a CompactFlash card reader. The following steps
illustrate how to do this using Windows XP Professional. If another version of
Windows is being used, the steps should be similar. Detailed steps can be
found in Windows online help or in the instruction manual.
1. Insert the CompactFlash card into the CompactFlash reader.
2. Go to My Computer using the icon on the desktop.
3. Right-click the drive corresponding to the CompactFlash reader and
select Format.
