TROUBLESHOOTING

Machine Troubleshooting
Machines are available with different engine options. Troubleshooting procedures will differ slightly between engine
models. Refer to the engine manufacturer's Repair Manuals for specific troubleshooting and repair procedures.
These manuals are available from WACKER Corporation.
Problem / Symptom
Engine does not start.
Engine runs poorly.
Engine runs, trowel does not operate.
Engine runs, trowel performs poorly or does
not develop full speed.
Trowel hard to control.
Trowel handle rotates at idle.
Reason / Remedy
1. Out of fuel. Replace fuel.
2. Bad or loose spark plug wire. Connect or replace wire.
3. Safety Stop Control is in the stop position. Move to Run position.
4. Spark plug dirty or worn. Clean or replace plug.
5. Engine flooded. Let dry out before restarting.
1. Bad fuel or wrong fuel. Replace fuel.
2. Bad or loose spark plug wire. Connect or replace wire.
3. Spark plug dirty or worn. Clean or replace plug.
4. Fuel/air mixture needs adjustment. Adjust.
5. Dirty air filter. Clean or replace filter.
6. Dirty fuel filter. Replace filter.
7. Engine bolts or parts loose or missing. Inspect and tighten
all bolts.
8. Engine RPM set wrong. Adjust RPM.
9. Belt rubbing, pulleys out of alignment. Align pulleys.
1. Belt broken. Replace belt.
2. Clutch not engaging. Inspect clutch for damage.
3. Gearcase damaged. Disassemble and inspect gearcase.
1. Debris collecting on moving parts and blades. Inspect and clean
blade assembly.
2. Engine speed low. Adjust RPM. Check throttle cable
and adjustment.
3. Gearcase damaged, bearings binding. Check oil level.
Disassemble and inspect gearcase.
4. Cam followers on lifting fork binding. Inspect cams. Grease
or replace.
5. Belt slipping. Check clutch for proper operation. Replace
worn belt.
6. Wrong blade pitch. Adjust blade pitch. Check for any binding in
arms or linkage.
7. Concrete too soft. Allow concrete to set.
1. Engine speed too high. Adjust RPM.
1. Engine idle speed high. Adjust idle speed.
2. Clutch bearing binding. Replace bearing.
