Caution: To avoid possible electric shock, special care should be taken when using any electrical appliance
near water.
Caution: Always isolate the pump from the mains electricity before installing or carrying out any
maintenance to the calcium reactor and remove the water supply intake strainer (6) from the aquarium or
sump.

Check regularly to ensure that the water flow through the V
We strongly advise that this is checked daily.

React Calcium Reactor should need very little adjustment and maintenance once set up correctly.

However, it is common for deposits to build up on some of the fittings/components and therefore it is
recommended that the calcium reactor is cleaned periodically.
3.
Clean and remove any build up of calcium/salt deposits on the water intake strainer and the water
outlet control valve.
USEFUL TIP: If calcium deposits are present, soak parts in a diluted vinegar or kettle descaling
solution and then thoroughly rinse with fresh water before use.
4.
Ensure that the water intake strainer (6) and the water outlet flow control valve (9) do not become
clogged and are not restricted.
5.
Ensure that the water supply intake strainer (6) is always fully submerged below the water surface in
your aquarium. please note: Failure to do so will result in operating problems and will also
damage the pump.

Check all connections regularly to ensure they are tight and secure.

Replace media as required.
9.
During routine maintenance it is advisable to ensure that the lid O ring (2) is checked for any signs
of degradation and replaced accordingly. Spare O rings are available through your local stockist
(part no.5782).
10. Clean pump (14) regularly to ensure it is free and clear of detritus.
USEFUL TIP: To remove the pump for cleaning follow the instructions below:-

Ensure all water has been emptied from the V

Clean as required and carefully re-assemble ensuring that all parts are located correctly. please
note: Failure to do so could result in operating problems. Pump spares are available from your
local supplier.
please note: If you decide to remove the pump during maintenance, ensure that the pump, pump
O ring and pump impeller are re-positioned correctly and securely as failure to do so could result in
leaks or operating problems. A small amount of vaseline or silicone grease can be used on the pump
O ring to help ensure a watertight connection. Pump spares are available from your local supplier.

problem: the calcium reactor is not working properly
1.
Possible Cause:The calcium reactor has not been successfully or correctly primed.
Solution: See "Priming the Calcium Reactor" section above.

Possible Cause:The pump (14) is not plugged in or is not operating correctly.
Solution: See "Pump is not operating correctly" section below.
3.
Possible Cause:Water supply intake strainer (6) is clogged or blocked.
Solution: Check for blockage and clean as required.
4.
Possible Cause:Water level in aquarium is too low and the water supply intake strainer (6) is not
fully submerged.
Solution: Check and correct the aquarium water level accordingly.
