18. TROUBLESHOOTING

PROBLEM
Espresso coffee is not delivered any
more
The espresso coffee drips from the
edges of the filter holder rather than
the holes
The filter holder cannot be attached to
the appliance
The coffee froth is too light (delivered
from the spout too fast)
The coffee froth is too dark (delivered
from the spout too slowly)
No milk froth is formed when making
cappuccino
At the end of descaling, the appliance
requests a further rinse
The coffee mill doesn't work
CAUSE
No water in the tank (A17)
The
light is on and the
light is flashing to indicate that the cof-
fee or steam circuit is empty.
The filter is blocked, or the perforated
filter is missing
The tank has been inserted incorrectly
and the valves on the bottom are not
open
Scale in the water circuit
The filter holder has been inserted in-
correctly or is dirty
The espresso boiler gasket has lost elas-
ticity or is dirty
The filter is blocked, or the perforated
filter is missing
The ground coffee has not been pressed
or is too much
The appliance settings need reviewing
The appliance settings need reviewing
The ring (A7) is in the "FLAT" (NO
FROTH) position
Milk not cold enough
The cappuccino maker (A8) is dirty
Scale in the water circuit
During the rinse cycle, the water tank
has not been filled to the MAX level
Inside the coffee mill there is a
non-millable foreign body

SOLUTION
Fill the tank
Press the button corresponding to the
light.
Clean as described in section "11.4 Cleaning
the coffee filters" and check that the perfo-
rated filter is correctly inserted
Press the tank down lightly to open the
valves on the bottom
Descale as described in section "12.
Descaling"
Attach the filter holder correctly and rotate
firmly as far as it will go
Have the espresso boiler gasket replaced by
Customer Services
Clean as described in section "11.4 Cleaning
the coffee filters"
Clean as described in section "6.6 Grind the
coffee directly into the filter"
See section "14. How to make perfect coffee"

Push the ring into the "FOAM" position
Always use milk at refrigerator temperature
Clean the cappuccino maker as described in
section "8. Cleaning the cappuccino maker
after use"
Descale as described in section "12.

Repeat the rinse cycle from point (8) of section
"12. Descaling"
Clean the mill as indicated in par."11.2 Clean-
ing the drip tray", making sure you have re-
moved all the grains from the bean container
(A2) before removing it.
Before reinserting the burr, carefully vacuum
any residue from its seat (fig. 44).
