Troubleshooting Procedures

To avoid risk of electrical shock, personal injury or death, disconnect power to cooktop before servicing, unless
testing requires power.
In the following procedures, correct gas type and pressure should be determined first.
Problem
Burner will not ignite.
Burners will not ignite, "Spark"
at surface ignitors.
Burners will not ignite. No
"Spark" at burner ignitors.
Burner knob pushed down,
turned and held in LITE
position.
Ignitor keeps sparking on
other settings other than
"LITE".
Binding valve stem.
Nothing works

WARNING
Probable Cause
• Top pilots not lit or ignitors not
operating.
• Orifice hoods are clogged.
• Burner venturi, cap or ignition ports
clogged.
• Ignitor not grounded.
• Burner venturi, cap or ignition ports
clogged.
• Air shutters out of adjustment.
• Burner flame not correctly adjusted.
(L.P. Gas)
• No voltage to cooktop.
• Circuit breaker or fuse blown.
• Microswitch (valve switch) contacts
not closing.
• Faulty wiring.
• Broken ignitor.
• Inoperative spark module.
• Ignitor ceramic dirty, spark gap out of
adjustment.
• Microswitch, internal contacts will not
open.
• Microswitch
• Valve
• Spark module
• Valve
• Microswitch or assembly
• Fuse or circuit breaker tripped
• Wiring to unit open.

Correction
• Lite top pilots or correct ignitor
operation.
• Clean orifice hoods and verify size in
use is correct.
• Clean burner venturi, cap or burner
port.
• Tighten mounting screw.
• Clean burner hoods or ignition ports.
• Adjust air shutters according to
installation instructions.
• Adjust burner flame according to LP
conversion information in installation
instructions.
• Verify electricity to unit.
• Reset breaker or replace fuse.
• Check activator movement, replace
microswitch (valve switch).
• Check connections for tightness.
• Replace ignitor.
• Verify module is working correctly.
• Clean ceramic, check grounding strap.
• Replace microswitch.
• Verify wiring.
• Replace valve.
• Replace spark module.
• Replace valve.
• Reseat microswitch, replace if not
corrected.
• Replace / reset as necessary.
• Verify proper voltage to unit..
