    PREFACE This Operator’s Manual is meant for personnel that are operating the machine and are responsible for its daily maintenance. Kindly read this manual fully prior to starting work. Such instructions as are related to your safety and/or that of others are marked in the margin by a warning triangle with exclamation mark.

Stay clear of rotating machine parts. • Danger of flying objects. Maintain a sufficient, safe distance from the machine as long as the tractor engine is running.

    1 INTRODUCTION The LELY SPLENDIMO T is a disc mower which is used for mowing grass lands and road sides. Mowing on slopes up to "S" "N" approx. 10° up and 10° down is within the machine’s capability. The machine is fitted with discs of the “S” or “N” model (fig.

    2 MOUNTING BEHIND THE TRACTOR The headstock is fitted with adjustable linkage pins (category II) for adjustment of the offset position of the machine behind the tractor (fig. 3). Always use position ‚ when mowing down a descending slope so that you can operate as far from the side as possible. - Adjustment of the linkage pins should be so selected that the drive element is entirely offset from the track of the tractor tyre.

    3 TRANSPORT The SPLENDIMO T disc mower can be transported on the tractor’s 3 point hitch. - The locking hook for the hydraulic ram will automatically engage and lock during retraction. - Check if the ram is secured by the locking hook (fig. 5).

    5 OPERATING THE MACHINE • Always operate with the safety cover folded down. • Make sure that nobody is near the machine at the moment the PTO is engaged. • Do not allow anyone to come within a 100 m radius from the machine during work.

    - If the machine, at the end of operation, needs to be put in the transport position, wait until all moving parts of the machine have come to a complete standstill. When folding up a machine that is still running, serious damage may be done to the PTO shaft.

    7 MAINTENANCE Correct machine servicing is necessary with a view to reliable and safe working. Maintenance after operations - Clean the machine thoroughly. After jet-cleaning allow for a few moments rotation of the discs so that the water is swept away. - Check the mower knives and discs for tightness and damage (see §...

    Intermittent maintenance Intermittent maintenance has to be carried out: • at the start of the haymaking season. • before prolonged storage of the machine. • when the machine is used extensively during the season. 40 h - Grease the PTO shaft. - Grease the profiled tubes of the PTO shaft .
  • Page 17 - Check the gearboxes for oil leakage (for oil change - see § 7.5). - Check all bolts and nuts for tightness. Pay particular attention to the bolts which secure the skids and wear plates (fig. 17). When tightening loose bolts/nuts the torques listed below should be applied.

    Replacement of knives 50-60 Nm (5-6 kgm) The mower knives come in 2 different versions for discs with LH or RH rotation. The front of the cutting edge has to point downward, viewed in the direction of rotation of the disc (fig. 19).

    Thanks to the modular design, mower elements can be replaced quickly, as can the drive shaft. If so required, the sequence of elements with LH and RH rotation can be changed in the SPLENDIMO T disc mower with “S” model mower discs. Dismount the cutter bar as follows.

    Supplement B B OPTIONAL EXTRAS Skids Skids fitted underneath the cutter bar ensure that the SPLENDIMO mower follows the ground contours more easily. Due to the streamlined shape of the skids, the mower does not dig into the ground in case of unevenness while at the same time soil is prevented from building up underneath the discs.
