Appendix B: Troubleshooting

The following table contains recommended actions for troubleshooting.

ISSUE
The USB memory stick does not cause the
rack PDU to beep when first inserted.
Login fails but the correct credentials were
entered.
Session closes unexpectedly.
Displays an error screen before the image is
uploaded.
Networking disruption occurs in the middle of
an update.
Power outage occurs in the middle of an
update.
A large error icon displays but the source of the
error is not found.
Email and SMS From and To fields do not
accept entries.
Settings change did not take effect.
When local time is configured for an MPH or
MPX rack PDU, the time is incorrect after a
restart or power cycle.
The SNMP community string is not accepted.
Default SNMP community strings are not
working.
After login, not all devices' measurements are
shown.
The sibling RPC2 module is not discovered.
Graphics don't display correctly or show
incomplete information.
Some features are not working correctly or are
unavailable.
RECOMMENDED ACTION
Confirm the USB Type A connector is firmly connected to the
Micro Type B adaptor.
Confirm the memory stick is not full.
If logging in as an administrator, confirm using the default
administrator credentials (admin/admin).
Delete the browser cache and restart the browser, then retype the
IP address in the URL field. Login window may be slow to display
the first time.
Confirm the Inactive Session Timeout from the System-Manage
Protocol window is configured with the desired value.
Restart the RPC2 module and try again.
Browse to the refreshed URL and try again. The RPC2 module and
its devices are fully recoverable.
Wait for restart of the RPC2 module and try again. The RPC2
module and its devices are fully recoverable.
Check the Sensor window for errors caused by improperly
configured thresholds.
Acknowledge a device change, if any are pending.
Confirm the text string does not exceed 124 characters.
The green checkmark must be clicked to save changes.
Confirm whether a power cycle or restart of the RPC2 module is
required.
The MPH and MPX rack PDUs do not support real-time clock
hardware. Configure the time using an NTP server.
Do not use a semicolon in the name.
Confirm using the default ENPRackPDU_RO and ENPRackPDU
for read and write community strings.
Wait a few minutes until the rack PDU array is fully discovered and
ready to report all data.
Confirm the link cable is connected to the link port.
Disconnect the link cable to the upstream RPC2 module, wait 30
seconds and reconnect.
Perform a hardware reset of the upstream unit or remove and
reinstall it to cause a power cycle.
Delete the browser cache and restart the browser. The login
window may be slower to display.
Increase the window size to view all tabs.
Check the browser compatibility in the firmware release notes.
Confirm the device and agent firmware versions are the latest
releases from the System-Support-Devices window. Read the
RPC2 module release notes for a description of new features,
changes and fixes. Perform a firmware update if needed.
