5.4.2. Check tension of elevator chain
Check the tension of the elevator chain before starting work with the machine.
5.4.3. Adjust elevator soil directing plates
The elevator lifts the soil and drops it into the compactor. The direction of soil discharged from the elevator can be
controlled with soil directing plates.
Adjust the soil directing plates before starting work with the machine.
5.5. Adjust soil supply
5.5.1. Check tension of soil belt
Check the tension of the soil belt before starting work with the machine.
Procedure:
1.
Check the tension of the elevator chain. The tension is correct when the
play in the middle of the chain is about 40 mm.
2.
Adjust the tension of the chain if necessary.
a. The tension can be adjusted with the two tension nuts mounted on each
side of the elevator housing.
b. Adjust the nuts (A) on each side of the elevator housing to the same
tension.
The tension of the chain must not be too tight.
Procedure:
1.
Check the distribution of soil in the tray.
2.
When the soil is poorly distributed:
a.
Loosen soil directing plate (A).
b.
Move the soil directing plate forwards or backwards.
c.
Tighten soil directing plate (A).
Soil directing plate (B) is often used with soft/weak trays. This is because the
soil can bend weak trays and cause production problems.
d.
Loosen soil directing plate (B) by loosening wing nuts (C).
e.
Move pin (B) forwards or backwards.
f.
Fasten soil directing plate (B) by tightening wing nuts (C).
Procedure:
1.
Check the tension of the soil belt. The tension is correct when the play in the
middle of the belt is about 40 mm.
2.
Adjust the tension of the belt if necessary.
a. Loosen the four block bearing bolts (B).
b. Adjust the tension by simultaneously turning nuts (A) on each side of the
soil belt.
c. Tighten the four block bearing bolts (B).
