8. WIRING CONNECTIONS & FUNCTIONS
8.1.

CONNECTING THE POWER SOURCE

For reliable operation of the Ctrack iS100 Series II unit it is imperative that a clean uninterrupted
power source is connected to the unit. In fact it is the most critical connection to the unit you will
make to ensure that data integrity is maintained.
The most reliable power source in any vehicle would be the vehicles battery. Due to security
reasons the power source may be connected to the vehicles fuse box on the main +ve input. The
negative must be connected securely to the vehicles chassis or other reliable –ve sources using
proper terminals. Keep the power wiring away from EMI generating cabling for example, cell phone
and 2-way radio wiring harnesses.
Maximum Input voltage = 32 V
Very Important: An in-line fuse with the +ve wire must be connected close to the source.
Fuse Type: Concealed 3A Blade fuse. (Supplied with the Ctrack NX-30 Harness)
Wire Identification: 3 wires grouped in black sleeving (Blue IGN, Red +ve, Black -ve)
8.2.

CONNECTING THE IGNITION SOURCE

The Ignition Input is connected to the switched +ve side of the vehicles ignition system.
Important note: The ignition sense has to have continuous power through cranking of the engine.
NB. ALWAYS ENSURE THAT THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF GEAR WHEN DOING THIS TEST!
Very Important: An in-line fuse with the +ve wire must be connected close to the source.
Fuse Type: Concealed 3A Blade fuse. (Supplied with the Ctrack iS100 Series II Harness)
Wire Identification: 3 wires grouped in Black sleeving (Blue IGN, Red +ve, Black -ve)
Warning: On certain vehicles you are not permitted to tap off the Ignition signal. Always verify that
it is safe to do so. In this case you can utilize the movement sensor to initiate a trip.
8.3.

CONNECTING THE EARTH GROUND WIRE

VERY IMPORTANT. Under no circumstances is the protected ground wire to be connected to
the vehicles existing ground wires. A bad earth / ground will effect and result in the failure of
both the GPS and GSM components.
8.4.

IMPACT SENSOR

The impact sensor is an internal sensor so no crash guard needs to be added to the installation.
