T o w -s ta rtin g and T ow ing
th e V e h icle
The rear to w in g eye is w elded
fro m below to the rig h t side o f the
spare tire co m p a rtm e n t. The fro n t
to w in g eye is located b ehind the
fla p in the fro n t b u m p e r panel
(arrow).
Flap rem oval: Insert fin g e r in the
o p e n in g o f the flap, pull the flap out
s lig h tly and d o w n w a rd to remove.

To in stall the flap, engage the flap
at the to p and press in the bo tto m
securely.
E ngage h o o k o f to w in g bar fro m the
rig h t side o f the to w in g eye. This
w ill ensure adequate clearance be­
tw een the to w in g bar and the
b u m p e r panel o p e n in g d u rin g turn s.
O nly to w -s ta rt veh icle w ith the bat­
te ry c o n n e cte d and th e key in ste e r­
ing lo ck p o s itio n 2.

W hen the en g ine is not ru nn in g ,

s te erin g are w ith o u t p o w e r assist­
ance. U nder these circu m sta nces, a
m uch g re ater e ffo rt is necessary to
steer o r stop th e vehicle.
Tow-starting a Vehicle
with Autom atic Transm ission
S h ift se le c to r lever to p o sitio n " N " .
T urn key in stee ring lo ck to p o si­
tio n 2 and have veh icle tow ed.
A fte r a tta in in g a to w in g speed of
30 km /h/18 m ph (w ith cold tra n sm is­
sion) o r 50 km /h/30 m ph (w ith w arm
tra n sm issio n ), s h ift se le c to r lever to
p o sitio n " 2 " to to w -s ta rt th e engine.
T ou ch th e a cc e le ra to r o n ly when
th e e n g ine starts firin g . As soon as
th e e n g ine has started, im m ediately
return se le cto r lever to " N " .
It is im p o rta n t to a llo w the en gine to
idle fo r at least 1 m in ute before
s ta rtin g o ff because the p re g lo w in g
process starts w hen the key is in
s tee rin g lo ck p o sitio n 2 and is not
im m e d ia te ly d is ru p te d a fte r the en­
g ine has been to w -sta rte d . D uring
th is tim e the p re g lo w in g process is
c u t o u t a u to m a tica lly.
If the en g ine has n o t fire d a fter a
fe w seconds, s h ift the se le cto r lever
to " N" to p ro te c t the tra nsm ission
fro m dam age.
For a new sta rtin g attem pt, to w -
start the veh icle fo r som e tim e
again w ith the se le cto r lever in po si­
tio n " N " and repeat the sta rtin g p ro ­
cedure.
The sam e m ethod can be used to
sta rt the e n g ine in em ergencies
w hen ro llin g d o w n h ill.
