Fuel Reserve W arning Lamp

The fu el reserve w a rn in g lam p w ill
com e on w hen th e key is tu rn e d to
steering lo c k p o s itio n 2, and w ill go
o u t a fte r th e e n g in e is ru n n in g .
If the w a rn in g lam p stays on a fte r
the engine starts, o r com es on w h ile
d rivin g , it in d ica te s th a t th e fuel
level is dow n to the reserve q u a n ­
tity.

Coolant T em perature Gauge

If the antifreeze m ix tu re is goo d to
- 3 0 ° C /- 2 2 ° F the b o ilin g p o in t of
the co o la n t in the pressurized c o o l­
ing system o f y o u r ve h icle is ap­
prox. 125° C /257° F (see also
" Fuels, C oolants, L u brica n ts, e tc ." ).
D uring severe o p e ra tin g c o n d itio n s
and s to p -a nd-go c ity tra ffic the
c o o la n t te m p e ra tu re m ust n o t rise
above the red m arking.

Low Engine Coolant Level

is ru n n in g .
If it com es on w ith the engine ru n ­
nin g , the c o o la n t has drop ped be­
lo w the re qu ire d level. You sho uld
th e n have the e n g ine c o o lin g sys­
tem checked fo r sign s o f leakage
and have it re fille d as so on as pos­
s ib le (see page 63).

fu ls o f MB au to -sh a m p o o have been
added.

Outside Tem perature Indicator

The te m p e ra tu re sensor is attached
to th e fro n t b u m p e r beh ind the
license plate base plate. Due to its
lo c a tio n , the senso r can be affected
by road o r en g ine heat d u rin g id lin g
o r s lo w d riv in g . T h is means th a t the
a ccu ra cy o f the displayed tem pera­
tu re can o n ly be verifie d by co m ­
parison to a th e rm o m e te r located
next to the sensor, n o t by c o m p a ri­
son to e xterna l displays (i.e., bank
signs, etc.).

Engine Oil Consumption

E n g ine oil c o n s u m p tio n can o nly be
d e te rm in e d a fte r a ce rta in m ileage
has been covered. D urin g the
b reak-in p erio d, h ig h e r oil c o n ­
s u m p tio n may be n o tice d and is
norm al.
