v e h ic u la r diesel fu e ls No. 2 o r
No. 1 (ASTM D 975 No. 2-D o r No.
1'D).
C hange engine oil in co m p lia n ce
w ith section " E ngine Oil C hange
and Oil F ilte r S e rvice " if diesel fuels
are used w hose s u lp h u r co n te n t ex­
ceeds 0.5% by w e ig h t. M arine diesel
fuel, heating oil o r the like m ust not
be used.
A t very low tem p e ra tu re s the flu id ity
of No. 2-D diesel fu e l may becom e
in s u ffic ie n t due to p a ra ffin separa­
tio n.
To avoid m a lfu n c tio n s , No. 2-D
diesel fuel o f a low ered clo u d p o in t
is m arketed d u rin g the co ld season.
A t tem peratu re s b e lo w 0° Cl + 32° F
use w in te rize d o r No. 1 diesel fuel
only. If n o t available, a certa in qu a n ­
tity o f kerosene may be added. M ix­
ing only to be done w ith in the c a rs '
fu el tank. Kerosene has to be fille d
in before the diesel fuel.

th is reason, keep percentage of
kerosene added to the m in im um
necessitated by th e a m bie n t te m p ­
erature.
The fo llo w in g ta b le can be used as
a reference, if ad d ing o f kerosene
b ecom es necessary. The m ixing
ra tio s show n refer to the to tal m ix ­
ture.
Even in extrem e c lim a tic c o n d i­
tio n s, th e m a xim um m ixtu re ratio
sh o u ld not exceed 50%.

A d din g o f kerosene to No. 1-D
diesel fuel is n o t recom m ended
even at low tem peratures.
