Digital equaliser
Digital sound control for adapting
the frequency response. An equal-
iser consists of several fi lters which
allow for improving the sound or ad-
justing it to personal preferences.
EON – Enhanced Other Network
In case of a traffi c announcement
(TA), the device switches over from
a non-traffi c information station to
a traffi c information station of the
same station chain. After the traffi c
announcement, the system switch-
es back to the previously heard pro-
gramme.
GPS – Global Positioning System
This system allows for a worldwide
positioning by means of 24 satel-
lites orbiting the earth at elevations
of 20000 km and transmitting a pre-
cise time signal. At least 4 satel-
lites must be received for an exact
positioning.
HighCut
HighCut results in an improved re-
ception in case of weak radio re-
ception (FM only). If the reception
is weak, the interference level is
automatically decreased.
Corridor function
If you enter a destination and the
navigation system calculates a
route, it not only saves the route,
but also a corridor to the left and
right side of this route. This allows
the navigation system during desti-
nation guidance to continue giving
turn-by-turn directions even if no
navigation CD is inserted.
Optimum route
Combination of fast and short
route. The relationship of the two
route components can be adjusted
(see "Setting the optimum route"
on p. 70).
TA – Traffi c Announcement
Spoken traffi c announcement on
the radio.
TMC – Traffi c Message Channel
RDS data service for area-based
traffi c announcements.
The navigation system can perma-
nently receive digital, inaudible traf-
fi c announcements free of charge by
means of a TMC station – provided
that the radio is set to a TMC sta-
tion. During dynamic destination
guidance (see p. 70), these traf-
fi c announcements are analysed
and the route is automatically ad-
justed.
Standby time
If you switch off the device, it re-
mains in standby mode for 30
minutes. During this time, the de-
vice software remains in memory,
which increases the current con-
sumption. After that time period,
the device completely switches off
to save power, and the memory is
deleted.
If you switch the device back on
during the standby time, it is op-
erational again after a few seconds;
an active destination guidance is
continued.
