1.4 Color Palettes
The EV3000-D thermal camera is equipped with three different palettes – Gray scale, Iron and
Rainbow. The gray scale displays the temperature differences as various shades of gray. Gray
scale is suggested for maximum contrast on targets against a uniform background.
The Iron palette uses a color scale that goes from dark red through yellow to white to represent
increasing temperatures. The Rainbow palette uses all of the colors of the rainbow from red
through green, blue and yellow to violet to represent increasing temperatures. Color palettes
can be used to investigate items that have been detected or to differentiate between objects in a
cluttered background.
Examples of the same scene with different palettes are shown on the inside front cover of this
manual.
