SECTION 9 — METHODS OF SAFEGUARDING MACHINES
SSC-500 Hydraulic Press Solid-State Control
OSHA 1910.217 Section (c) under General Requirements states:
(i) It shall be the responsibility of the employer to provide and insure the usage of "point-of-operation guards" or properly applied and adjusted
point-of-operation devices on every operation performed on a mechanical power press.
This means that for every mechanical power press that is being used in United States industry, there must be protection for the operator by
a
guard or a device (safeguard). This protection may also be accomplished by the use of a combination of guards and devices.
When updating a power press, the most important decision is the selection of the proper guard or device. The following are methods of safe-
guarding part revolution power presses.
