• Never attempt to repair the instrument or adjust it yourself. If you need to have the unit repaired, contact
customer service. See warranty for service contact. Before contacting us, first check the batteries and
replace them if necessary.
• Changes or modifications to the device will nullify the user warranty.
NOTES
• The capacity of the scale is 441 lb (200 kg, 31 st : 7 lb).
• For weight measurement and bone mass, the results are shown in 0.2 lb increments (100 g, 0.01 st).
• The measuring results of the body fat, body water and muscle percentage are shown in 0.1 % increments.
• Caloric requirements are displayed in 1 Kcal increments.
• Ages 10 to 100 and height settings from 2 ft 8 in – 7 ft 2 in (80 to 220 cm) can be preset.
• The scale is initially set to "inch" and "lb". To switch to "kilogram" (kg) or "stones" (st:lb), power the scale
on and press the "▲" or "▼" button until the desired unit is displayed.

2. Measuring Principle

This scale uses the B.I.A. principle (bioelectric impedance analysis), which measures physical relationships within
seconds via an unnoticeable and harmless signal from the conductors in the scale. The scale determines body
fat percentage and other bodily aspects by measuring electrical resistance (impedance) and adjusting the results
based on age, height, gender, weight and degree of physical activity.
Muscle tissue and water have good electrical conductivity, and therefore lower resistance. Fatty tissue, on the
other hand, has low conductivity since fat cells have a lower water content.

4. Battery Installation/Replacement

Battery Handling Safety Precautions:
• Use only the size and type of batteries specified.
• Be sure to follow the correct polarity when installing the batteries. Reversed batteries may cause damage to
the device.
• Do not mix different types of batteries together (e.g. Alkaline and Carbon-zinc or rechargeable batteries) or
old batteries with fresh ones. Always replace batteries as a simultaneous set.
• If the batteries in the device are depleted or the device will not be used for a long period of time, remove the
batteries to prevent damage or injury from possible battery leakage.
• Do not try to recharge batteries not intended to be recharged; they can overheat and rupture (follow battery
manufacturer's directions.)
• Do not dispose of batteries in fire, batteries may explode or leak.
• Clean the battery contacts and also those of the device prior to battery installation.
• Remove discharged batteries from the product and dispose/recycle in compliance with all applicable laws.
• Keep batteries away from children and pets. Batteries may be harmful if swallowed. Should a child or pet
swallow a battery, seek medical assistance immediately.
If present, remove the battery insulating strip or the batteries' protective film and insert the batteries according
to the polarity indicated inside the battery compartment. If the scale does not power on, remove the batteries
and reinsert. Replace the battery compartment cover. The scale is equipped with a "replace battery" indicator
that displays "Lo" when battery power is weak. The scale will then shut off. Replace all four batteries with new
"AAA" size alkaline batteries.
New batteries will last for approximately two years when using the unit about three times per day. Trial batter-
ies supplied with the unit may have a shorter life. Remove the batteries if you do not intend to use the unit for
three months or longer.
