    Preparation Installing Batteries in Your Remote Note: Your remote requires two AA batteries. For the best performance and longest life, we recommend alkaline batteries (such as RadioShack Cat.     The Main Menu The Timer Programming the Timer The Timer Feature is used to store up to 8 upcoming events. The timer knows when the program starts and ends and what channel it will be shown on. Note: The timer feature controls only the System 5100’s receiver—it does not control your VCR.
