OPERATION
This Procedure includes the following:

Hand Crank Assembly

Shifting Gears

Backing Up/Braking/Parking Brake
Steering/Cornering
Mountain Drive Option
WARNING
After ANY adjustments, repair or service and BE-
FORE use, make sure all attaching hardware is tight-
ened securely - otherwise injury or damage may
result.
HAND CRANK ASSEMBLY
NOTE: For Installation or Adjustment of the Hand Crank
Assembly, refer to PROCEDURE 5 in this manual.
NOTE: Adjust the seat to fit your particular requirements
for a comfortable position when operating the Excelerator.
Refer to PROCEDURE 9 in this manual.
The hand crank assembly is used for propelling and steer-
ing of the Excelerator. At least one (1) hand MUST be on
the hand crank assembly at all times.
SHIFTING GEARS
Li'l Excelerator (Three [3] Speed)
Excelerator (Seven [7] Speed)
To shift gears, hold onto the hand crank assembly with
one (1) hand, continue pedaling, but ease pressure on
the pedals and select the gear required. If the Excelerator
is stationary, simply select gear required. The neutral po-
sition is constant except when pedaling forward or apply-
ing the brakes.
Excelerator/Excelerator XLT (Seven [7]
Speed) (FIGURE 1)
1. Perform one (1) of the following:
A. UPSHIFT - Push the shifting lever towards the
indicator and release. Repeat until the desired
gear is obtained.
B. DOWNSHIFT - Push shifting lever down and
away from the indicator. Repeat until the desired
gear is obtained.

To shift gears, you MUST turn the crank forward with the
chain under some tension while the bike is moving. DO
NOT attempt to shift gears while bike is stationary. Shift-
ing the chain towards the centerline of the handcycle is
for climbing/accelerating and is called a downshift. Mov-
ing the chain out or away from the centerline of the
handcycle is for speed and is called an upshift.
There are two (2) grips installed on the seat rails. The
RIGHT grip has eight (8) speeds and the LEFT grip has
three (3) speeds.
1. Rotate the RIGHT grip until the indicator points to
a higher number.
2. Perform one (1) of the following:
A. INDICATOR POINTS TO "8" - Rotate the
B. INDICATOR POINTS TO "1-7" - Repeat
3. Repeat STEPS 1-2 until the desired gear is
achieved.
4. To downshift, reverse STEPS 1-3.

LEFT grip until the indicator points to a higher
number. Rotate the RIGHT grip until the indi-
cator points to "1".
