MT-4611 Combustible Gas Detector
User's Manual
Introduction:
Thanks for purchasing Pro'sK MT-4611 Combustible Gas Detector. It
detects the presence of combustible gas and nuisance vapors, such as
Natural Gas, Methane, Ethane, Propane, Butane, Acetone,
Alcohol, Ammonia, Gasoline, Jet Fuel, Hydrogen Sulfide, Smoke,
Industrial Solvents, Lacquer Thinner and Naphtha in concentrations as
low as 10% LEL for Methane and alerts the user with audible and
visual alarms. The 35cm flexible probe will provide easy access in hard
to reach areas. With proper use, this detector will provide years of
reliable service.
Features:
• Quickly-response sensor for accurate detection
• Detection at 10% ~ 40% lower explosion limited
• The 35cm flexible probe, allows location and detection of leak in
hard-to-reach and confined spaces
• Visible & audible alarm
• Adjustable sensitivity setting helps precisely locating leaks
• Comes with earphone jack
Important note:
• Always turn the meter on in an atmosphere free of combustible gas.
• Please read this manual carefully before using the detector.
• Do not replace the batteries in an explosive atmosphere.
• Frequently check meter operation using an unlit gas burner or lighter
• Please turn off when not in use to avoid running out of power
Specifications:

Operation
Warm-up before use
1. In a gas free atmosphere, push the ON/OFF button to power on
the detector.
2. Hold the MT-4611 in the clean ambient air during at least 2 minute
(typical) warm-up, self-zero cycle.
3. Some intermittent alarm tones may be experienced for a short time
as the detector warms up, the alarm will stop sounding when the
MT-4611 is ready for use, if the detector is in an area where
combustible gas is present, the alarm may not stop.
Note:
Warm-up time is depending on when the last time the meter was used.
The MT-4611 will automatically zero itself on activation. If the sensor
was overexposed, the MT-4611 will enter into an automatic cycle to
reset. In this instance, the unit will alarm at peak level and decrease to
zero.
Earphone Jack
When works in a noise area, an earphone can be plugged into the MT-
4611. In addition, the speaker is disabled when an earphone is
connected so the ticking and alarm will not disturb others in the
general area.
A definition of % LEL:
The LEL of a flammable gas is the minimum concentration of that gas,
at normal ambient conditions, at which it will burn if there is a source of
ignition present. At a concentration below the
LEL, the gas will not burn. Gas detectors for flammable gases are
calibrated in the range 0-100% LEL.
Leak Detection
1.
After warm up, MT-4611 is ready to detect.
2.
Trace the sensor around the source of the suspected leak. When
leaking gas is detected the alarm will sound.
3.
If the level of gas is approximately at 10% LEL of Methane, the
Alarm Red LED will light up and the tone will sound.
4.
In areas of high gas concentration, the sensitivity rate can be
readjusted to pinpoint the location of the leak.
5.
Turn the sensitivity knob clockwise to reset to a lowest rate.
6.
Push on/off button to power off the unit.
Maintenance
Caution! Storing in a damp environment will damage the sensor!
Battery Replacement
If the green LED flashes or does not illuminate, the batteries need to
be replaced. The battery compartment is located at the rear of the MT-
4611. Please unscrew and open the cover of battery compartment,
then replace the four AA (1.5V) batteries. Ensure that the compartment
cover is securely screw fastened when finished.
Cleaning and Storage
Wipe the detector only with a damp cloth as needed. Do not apply
abrasive, solvents, or other cleaners to the surface of the detector or
sensor. Store with the batteries removed and avoid extreme
temperature and humidity.
