NOTES:
Data shown is dry coil. Wet coil pressure drop is
approximately 0.1" H
0 for 2-row indoor coil, 0.2" H
2
3-row indoor coil; and 0.3" H
After completing airflow measurements and adjustments, the
unit's refrigerant charge must be checked. The unit is factory
charged based on 400 CFM per ton at minimum ESP per AHRI
test conditions (generally between 0.15 and 0.25 ESP). When air
quantity or ESP differs from this, charge must be readjusted to
the proper amount.
All package units are charged to the superheat method at the
compressor suction line (these are fixed orifice devices).
For charging in the warmer months, 8ºF +/-3ºF superheat at the
compressor is required at conditions: 95ºF (35ºC) outdoor
ambient (dry bulb temperature), 80ºF (27ºC) dry bulb / 67ºF
(19ºC) wet bulb indoor ambient, approximately 50% humidity.
This superheat varies when conditions vary from the conditions
described.

Data shown does not include filter pressure drop,
approximately 0.08" H
All models should run no less than 350 CFM/Ton.
Reduce airflow by 2% for 208-volt operation.
A superheat charge chart is available for other operating
conditions. Use it to provide the correct superheat at the
conditions the unit is being charged at. After superheat is
adjusted it is recommended to check unit subcooling at the
condenser coil liquid line out. In most operating conditions 10ºF
to 15ºF of subcooling is adequate.
Determine Superheat
1. Read suction pressure.
2. Determine Saturated Suction Temperature from tables or
pressure gauge saturated temperature scale (R-410A).
3. Read suction line temperature.
4. Use the following formula to determine Superheat.
