Abbreviated Guide to: Starting the STIHL TS-700.
1. Press Trigger Lockout (1) and Trigger (2) simultaneously.
2. Hold Both triggers down. Move the Master control lever (3) to START and hold in
position.
3. Release the throttle lockout and trigger (1),(2). Then the master control (3) which will
remain in the START position.
4. Set the Choke (4) to the appropriate position.
4.1. Full Choke for a cold engine.
4.2. ½ Choke for a cooling Engine (i.e. off for > 5 minutes)
4.3. No choke if engine still warm (i.e. off for < 5 minutes).
5. Press the decompression button (5).
6. Press the bulb of the manual fuel pump (6) 7-10 times.
7. Place the machine on the ground (ensure the cut-off wheel cannot touch
the ground or any objects. Ensure all other personnel are clear of the
machine).
8. Ensure you have a firm footing.
9. Press the machine firmly against the ground, use your left hand with
thumb wrapped around the upper handle. Lock your elbow.
10. Place your right foot in the rear handle.
11. Pull the starter grip slowly (with your right hand) until you feel it
engage – then give it a brisk strong pull - don't pull the rope out all
the way.
12. Do not let the rope snap back, but guide it into the housing.
After the engine has turned over the first time.
13. Set the Choke (4) to the ½ Choke position.
14. Press the decompression button (5).
15. Continue cranking.
When the engine successfully starts.
16. Squeeze the throttle and let the engine run for 30s.
17. Set the Choke (4) to the OFF position.

To STOP the engine.
18. Move the Master control lever (3) to STOP or 0.
