5 ½" 3-plate sintered bronze clutch with central release
mechanism
With multi-plate clutches care should be taken that the splined hub is as
well aligned as possible with the sintered plates.
(Special alignment tool, Porsche Nr. 996.450.335.90)
Smear the splines lightly with grease and slide the clutch plates along
the splined input shaft till the hub moves easily on the shaft. Remove
excess grease.
Make sure no grease is smeared on the clutch plates.
Sintered clutch plate, new thickness
Replace clutch plates when minimum thickness is:
The diaphragm spring clamping force remains constant to this minimum
thickness, reduces when minimum thickness exceeded.
