I plugged in my new HD11 detector. The unit switches to a smoke alarm and will not stop the alarm. What should I do since there is no smoke?

The Macurco HD-11 detector is not designed to detect smoke, fire, or carbon monoxide. If it sounds an alarm without any smoke present, it may be reacting to other combustible gases such as alcohol, ammonia, cleaning solvents, paint thinner, gasoline vapors, or aerosol propellants. Ensure the area is well-ventilated and check for the presence of these substances. If the issue persists, contact the alarm panel installer for assistance.

The HD-11 is designed for connection to alarm control panels. Alarm control panels that work on 12 or 24 VDC can provide battery backup to the HD-11. This gas detector is NOT designed to detect smoke, fire or carbon monoxide.
The HD-11 is NOT designed to detect smoke, fire or carbon monoxide. Do NOT mount the HD-11 in a corner. ! WARNING HD-11 may not function effectively below 32 F or above 120F. Using the detector outside of this temperature range may adversely affect product performance and result in sickness or death. GENERAL DESCRIPTION The Macurco Hydrogen Gas Detector HD-11 is a low voltage (12-24VAC or VDC) electronic detector of hydrogen gas.

6. The HD-11 uses a full wave bridge rectifier at its power input, so that it is independent of the polarity of the input power. It can operate on DC or AC voltages between 12 and 24 volts. 7. A switching regulator is used to efficiently match the wide input voltage range to the fixed, internal power system.
Accommodation spaces should be well ventilated when household cleaning supplies or similar contaminants are used. In addition to the hydrogen gas that it is designed to detect, the HD-11 can also be affected by a broad range of combustible gases. Some of these that may cause an alarm are: alcohol, ammonia, cleaning solvents, paint thinner, gasoline vapors, and aerosol propellants.
