MAINTENANCE

Warning !
Stay with the machine while carrying out
maintenance work like descaling. Also keep
the other safety regulations in mind as given
in INTRODUCTION-Warning !

Cleaning

The outside of the machine and the contai-
ners can be cleaned with a damp cloth. The
filter units can be washed up in a normal
way. The interior and the tap of the
containers can be rinsed with hot water. If
coffee stains can not easily be removed it is
best to give a treatment with our detergent
CLEANER. Cleaning the removable parts
with this detergent is simple (also read the
instructions on the package):
1. Dissolve the contents of 1 sachet of de-
tergent in ca. 5 l of hot water (min.
80°C).
2. Place the parts to be cleaned in the
solution. All the parts now should be left
to soak in the solution for about 10 to
30 minutes. After being soaked rinse
everything thoroughly with clean hot
water.
3. If there are coffee stains at the interior
of the containers, fill the containers with
hot water (by pushing the button for the
largest quantity, no. 13.1, fig. 1).
4. Dissolve detergent in it (1 sachet per 5
l). Before filling, place the empty filter
unit on top of the container to prevent
splashing.
5. The solution should be left to soak for
10 to 30 minutes.
6. Tip for getting rid of the cleaner solution:
slide a hose pipe of sufficient length
and 1.8 cm diameter onto the drainage
tap (no. 8, fig. 1). Hang the end of it in
the sink or in a bucket. Now empty the
container and rinse the interior thor-
oughly with hot water, to repeat the
procedure for making hot water once or
twice. Do not forget to empty the
container in between.
Now the machine is ready for normal use.

Descaling

During use of the machine scale will
accumulate. In order to ensure that the
apparatus functions correctly it must be de-
scaled regularly (at least once every six
months, in very hard water areas once a
month). We advise for this purpose RENE-
GITE, a descaling agent which we have
tested ourselves. (Read the instructions on
the packet as well)
Collect the following together before you
start de-scaling the machine: bucket (if
there is no water drainage available),
sufficient length of hose pipe with a
diameter of 1.8 cm, funnel, measuring jug,
gloves, face guard, damp cloth and the
Renegite de-scaler.
1. Position an empty container with filter
unit properly under the outlet of the
swivelarm. Place a damp cloth on the
rotary head to prevent any de-scaling
solution splashing.
2. Slide the hose pipe onto the container
drainage tap (no 8, fig. 1). Put the other
end of the hose pipe in the bucket or
sink.
3. Press the button for the smallest
quantity (no. 13.4, fig.1). This is
neccesary, to be sure the water
reservoir is emptied to the lowest
electrode. Therefore the reservoir will
not overflow.
4. After the delivery of hot water stops,
(the indicator lamp in the selector
switch goes out) the container can be
emptied.
5. Dissolve the descaling agent in
lukewarm water. Use the measuring jug
for accuracy.
For B5 and B10: use 50 grams in 0,75
litre of water. For B20: use 100 grams
in 1,5 litres of water. For B40: use 150
grams in 2,5 litres of water.
6. Take the plug out of the inlet on top of
the column. Pour the descaler solution
in via the opening next to the swivelarm
(see fig. 8) using the added funnel.
7. Press the button for the smallest
quantity (no. 13.4, fig. 1).
8. After the indicator light of the push
button goes out, wait for about 5
minutes to allow the solution to fulfil its
function.
