To use the overlock stitch on the Empisal ESM2900:
1. Select Stitch No.15 (Overlock) or No.16 (Double Overlock) from the stitch options. 2. Raise the presser foot lever. 3. Raise the needle using the needle up/down button or by turning the handwheel toward you. 4. Place a spool of thread on the spool pin and secure it with the correct size spool cap. 5. Thread the machine following the upper threading path: - Pass thread into the thread guide and snap it between the guide and plate. - Bring it down the right channel, then up the left channel. - Pull the thread through the take-up lever from left to right and down to the needle. 6. Begin sewing along the edge of the fabric for a clean finish.
To use the buttonhole function:
1. Select one of the buttonhole stitches (Stitch No.07 to No.11). 2. Follow the same threading steps as above. 3. Attach the buttonhole presser foot. 4. Place the fabric under the presser foot and align it as needed. 5. Lower the buttonhole lever if required. 6. Start sewing; the machine will create the buttonhole in the selected pattern.
Note: Twin needle use is not recommended with buttonhole stitches (No.7–11).

1. Raise presser foot lever. 2. Press the needle up / down button or rotate the handwheel toward you to raise the needle in the position. 3. Place a spool of thread onto the spool pin and secure with the proper size spool cap (see page 11).

This stitch will sew without stitches showing on right side of fabric. Note: If too much of the stitching shows on the right side of the fabric, change to a narrower stitch width or move the guide on the foot to the right. If the zigzag does not meet the fold, widen the stitch width or move the guide on the foot to the left.

Interesting decorative stitches can be produced by twin needle sewing application with two different colors of thread. Always making test sewing to help you determine the most appropriate setting for best sewing result. 1. Set stitch width no more than 3.5mm. 2 .Insert twin needle.
