3.2.5 Disassembling the Printer Mechanism

This section describes how to disassemble the main components of the printer mechanism.
3.2.5.1 Removing the Carriage Motor
1.
Remove the printer mechanism from the tower case, as described in Section 3.2.4.
2.
Remove the printer spring (778 gm) from the base frame.
3.
Remove the timing belt from the heft pulley.
4.
Remove the 2 mounting screws and the carnage motor frame as shown in Figure 3-13.
5.
Remove the 2 CB (M3 X 6) screws that hold the carnage motor to the carriage motor frame.
6.
Remove the carnage motor.
See Section 3.2.5.13 for details on arranging and positioning the motor cable.
After removing the carnage motor from the carnage motor frame, you must adjust the carnage motor
backlash. (See Section 4.1.1.) You also must adjust the bidirectional print position to ensure that
bidirectional printing is correctly aligned.
