ASSEMBLY FROM THE BIKEGUARD
It also retains its effectiveness in wet conditions
and provides maximum protection against corro-
sion. Canyon assembly paste can be used for all
carbon and aluminium connections. It's ideal for
this purpose, as it does not harden.
Prior to applying Canyon assembly paste, remove
dirt particles and lubricant residues from the sur-
faces to be treated. Apply a thin and even film of
Canyon assembly paste to the cleaned surfaces
using a brush or a chamois.
Mount the components, as specified.
Use the Canyon torque wrench and never exceed
the prescribed maximum torque value.
Remove excessive Canyon assembly paste and re-
seal the small sachet after use.
Make it a rule to use assembly paste on
seat posts of mountain bikes to achieve
a firm seat of the seat posts. Changing the
height of the seat post in the frame often leads
to a scratching of the surface. This is normal
wear and no reason for complaint. In the case
of height-adjustable seat posts scratching is
not an issue.
UNPACKING
Remove the box with small parts "Let's get start-
ed" from the BikeGuard and place it at hand. Take
out the two protective boxes in the top. Remove
the battery charger and possibly a further box
with small parts from the protective box in the
rear.
Take out the detailed type-specific Canyon bicycle
manual, the Quick Start Guide and the tools from
the "Let's get started" box.
Remove the outer protective box, take out the
front wheel from the BikeGuard and place the
front wheel carefully aside.
MOUNTING THE HANDLEBAR
In packed condition the handlebar is not assem-
bled, the stem is however assembled accurately.
Do not make any changes to the stem.
Take the Canyon torque wrench and put the bit
matching the faceplate bolts into the holder.
Release the clamping bolts of the stem faceplate
completely and remove the faceplate.
Squeeze out some Canyon assembly paste and
apply a thin layer of Canyon carbon assembly
paste on the inner side of the faceplate as well as
in the clamping area of the stem body.
The prescribed torque value for the handlebar
faceplate screws (6 Nm) is marked on the stem
inside where the handlebar is mounted.
ASSEMBLY FROM THE BIKEGUARD
Make sure the bowden cables and the lines are
not twisted or bent, but run in a smooth curve to
the cable stops or brakes.
Position the handlebar by means of the marking
accurately centred in the stem clamp.

Evenly retighten the clamping bolts on the face-
plate in a cross pattern until they lightly hold the
handlebar in place.
Do not combine carbon handlebars with
bar ends, unless they have been specif-
ically approved. Do not shorten carbon handle-
bars or clamp the brake levers and shifters
further in the middle than indicated or needed.
Risk of breakage!
At this stage the pedelec is not yet
ready-for-use. Carry out the final ad-
justment and fixing of the handlebar, as de-
scribed in chapter "Adjusting and mounting the
handlebar".
