  • Page 5 The SBG7580-AC is a combination DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem and four-port Ethernet router with Wi-Fi. It uses DOCSIS 3.0 technology to provide ultra high-speed Internet access. Using the connection capabilities of the SBG7580-AC, you can connect your computer and other devices via the Ethernet ports or two different wireless connections.

  • Page 8 Connect the coaxial cable (not provided) from the cable wall outlet or splitter to the cable connector on the rear of your SBG7580-AC. Tighten by hand.
  • Page 9 Connect the included Ethernet cable to any of the Ethernet ports on the rear of your SBG7580-AC and the Ethernet port of a PC or laptop.
  • Page 10 Connect the power cord to the power port on the rear of your SBG7580-AC and then plug it into an electrical wall outlet that is not controlled by a wall switch. Your SBG7580-AC will automatically power ON.
  • Page 11 Check the front panel LEDs on your SBG7580-AC. After a brief pause, the top three LEDs should be lit SOLID blue: • Power • Send/Receive • Online If any LEDs are not lit SOLID, double-check the connections.

  • Page 23 Select the following in sequential order from the Windows task bar on your computer. This will open the list of available wireless networks: • Start Button • Control Panel • Network and Sharing Center • Connect to a Network...
  • Page 24 Click on the wireless network name or SSID for your SBG7580-AC in the list displayed.
  • Page 25 The SSID, SBG7580AC-XXXX, is listed on the gateway label.
  • Page 26 Select “connect automatically” to set up automatic log on connections for the wireless devices on your home network.
