HOME THEATRE APPLICATIONS
A home theatre systems typically consist of front loudspeakers, side and/or rear surround
loudspeakers, a center channel loudspeaker and a powered subwoofer.
Main Speakers or Front Speakers
Front speakers in a home theatre system should be placed closer together than for
2-channel stereo application because the surround channels tend to widen the image.
We recommend they are positioned at least 50 cm away from the TV screen, at least 30cm
away from the rear walls and at least 50cm away from any side walls.

Center Channel

The Wilson Vocal centre channel loudspeaker should be positioned centrally between the front
loudspeakers, close to the television and ideally on a stable cabinet, shelf or wallbracket below
the screen.

Surround Channels

If the speakers are to be used for the surround channels in a home theatre system,
position them as illustrated in Fig. 2-4 according to the number of channels.
Surround speakers should be positioned slightly behind the primary listening area. If they
are to be wall mounted and positioned more than 1,5 meter from the listening area then
they should be installed at a height of about 1,8 meter. If they are to be placed on stands
closer to the listening area they should be positioned at roughly head level.

Connecting the loudspeakers

We recommend that you read the manual of your amplifier or AV-receiver carefully before
connecting your loudspeakers. All connections should be made with the amplifier switched off.
Fig. 2 illustrates connection.
Right Loudspeaker
Choose a cable of suitable length and diameter for each loudspeaker - a loudspeaker cable is
polarised, with twin cores of different colours, or with a rib or printed text on the insulation.
Split the twin cores insulation to a depth of about 50-60mm. Strip the insulation from each end,
leaving about 15mm of bare wire - twist wire to gather any loose strands.
