Loudspeaker Placement

The Wilson Raptor loudspeakers can be used for both stereo and home-theater applications.
Variations in placement of loudspeakers can usually produce big differences in the way they sound
and because no listening rooms are the same we recommend that you spend some time
experimenting with which placement works best in your listening room.
Wilson Mini, R-1 and R-3 are best used mounted on rigid floorstands that position the tweeters
approximately at ear level when seated. Shelf or wall bracket mounting is an option but it provides
less opportunity for optimising the sound through adjustment of the speaker position.
Wilson R-5 and R-7 models are designed to be floor standing.
Wilson Vocal is best placed on a cabinet or shelf below the TV screen.
STEREO APPLICATIONS
Placing the loudspeakers at least 1,5-3 m apart will provide the best stereo sound and image.
We suggest that they are positioned at least 30cm from the rear walls and at least 50cmm from
the side walls. Fig.1 illustrates this arrangement.
The shape of the room will affect the bass performance, especially when loudspeakers are
placed in the corner of the room.
There will be more bass response when a speaker is moved closer to a rear wall, but
loudspeakers should generally be kept away from sidewalls as these surfaces can affect the
stereo imaging experienced at the listening position.
