    The lowered side barriers allow entry onto the platform from a wide angle. Operation of the Innovator lift is done by either a trained attendant or the wheelchair occupant.

If You Need to Return a Product: Return this product to your installing dealer, or to Ricon, following the Ricon RMA procedure.     C. SHIPMENT INFORMATION Ricon does not sell directly to the user because of the specialized nature of this product. In- stead, the product is distributed through a worldwide network of authorized Ricon dealers who perform the actual sale and installation.

    MAJOR LIFT COMPONENTS The references used throughout this manual are illustrated in Figure 1-1 and defined in Table 1-1. Figure 1-2 shows electrical and hydraulic control details on the lift tower. Figure 1-3 shows the lift with its platform in the folded position (with platform not wrapped). Figure 1-4 shows the lift fully stowed (with platform folded and wrapped).

    II. INNOVATOR LIFT OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS his chapter contains safety precautions, daily safety check instructions, control and indicator descriptions, and operating instructions for the RICON Innovator Wheelchair Lift. This chap- ter must be thoroughly understood by the lift operator. A. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS The following safety precautions must be complied with at all times when operating lift: Refer to Figure 2-1.

    Read and understand these safety precautions. Review them periodically and ask any atten- dants or other operators to read them as well. Contact an authorized Ricon dealer or call Ri- con Product Support if you have questions.

    C. LIFT FUNCTIONS Refer to Table 2-1 for descriptions of the four basic wheelchair lift motions. Each motion is put into action by using one of the four pushbuttons located on the control pendant. Refer to section D for more informa- tion on the pendant.

    D. CONTROLS AND INDICATORS WARNING! THE LIFT CAN OPERATE ONLY WHEN PERMITTED TO BY THE VEHICLE INTERLOCK CIRCUITRY. DO NOT OPERATE LIFT WITH INTERLOCK BYPASSED. REFER TO VEHICLE OPERATOR MANUAL FOR INTERLOCK INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE OPERATING LIFT. ¡ Control Pendant Refer to Figure 2-3. The lift is operated with two rocker switches, which are located on a hand-held, hard-wired control pendant.

    If an interlock system is not installed, the light stays illuminated at all times. CAUTION! Do not hold a circuit breaker in its reset position if holding and releasing does not restore power. Contact an authorized Ricon dealer for repair. ¡ Control System Circuit Breaker Refer to Figure 2-5.

    Main Circuit Breaker ¡ Refer to Figure 2-6. The main circuit breaker is typically located in the vehicle engine com- partment, and interrupts electrical power to the lift electrical system if a short circuit occurs. The circuit breaker reset tab is shown in the normal, or reset, position, and rotates about 90 CW when a short circuit occurs.

    MANUAL OPERATION: The lift can be operated manually with the manual hydraulic backup system, if neces- sary. The following procedure is for passengers that are exiting the vehicle. Ricon rec- ommends against using manual operation to board passengers into the vehicle.
