Configuring The Shared Storage System - Dell PowerVault MD3600f Hardware Installation And Troubleshooting Manual

Follow these steps to install the Storage Management Software:
1 Close all other programs before installing any new software.
2 Insert the PowerVault MD36x0f resource media.
Depending on the outrun settings of the operating system, the Dell
PowerVault MD36x0f Resource DVD window may be displayed or a
prompt may be displayed to run the md_launcher.exe file. If the
PowerVault MD launcher is not displayed and there is no prompt to run
the md_launcher.exe file, navigate to the root of the resource media and
run the md_launcher.exe file.
3 Select Install MD36x0f Storage Software.
4 Select one of the following installation options:
• Full (recommended)—This package installs core software, providers,
and utilities. It includes the necessary host-based storage agent, MPIO
software, MD Storage Manager, providers, and optional utilities.
• Host Only—This package includes the host-based storage agent,
MPIO software, and optional utilities required to configure the host.
• Management Station—This package includes the MD Storage
Manager, providers, and optional utilities.
• Custom—This option allows you to select specific components.
• Reboot each host server.

Configuring the Shared Storage System

See Table 1-2 for a list of supported Dell Powervault MD36x0f storage
systems. Before you begin configuring your storage system, you must fill out
the "Zoning Configuration Form" on page 77. Gathering this type of
information about your cluster node, HBAs, and storage before starting the
configuration steps helps you complete the process faster.
