11. Check for a steady stream of water flowing out of the water pump
indicator hole.
IMPORTANT: If no water is coming out of the water pump indicator hole, stop
the engine and check the cooling water intake for obstruction. No obstruction
may indicate a water pump failure or blockage in the cooling system. These
conditions will cause the engine to overheat. Have the outboard checked by a
dealer. Operating the engine while overheated may cause serious engine
damage.
IF THE RECOIL STARTER FAILS TO OPERATE

the starter pulley then pull quickly to start.
Use a 10 mm socket wrench as a rope handle.
The exposed moving flywheel can cause serious injury. Keep your hands,
hair, clothing, tools, and other objects away from engine when starting or
running the engine. Do not attempt to reinstall the rewind starter assembly or
top cowl when engine is running.
