Procedure 11-9 Problem: Unable to verify status or version of the

database or Oracle proxy

Oracle proxy and database services are started by default on Windows PCs and Solaris
workstations. If you are not sure of the status of the installed database or the Oracle
proxy, perform the following on a PC or Solaris workstation.

Scroll the list of services and verify that the
Oracleoracle_homeTNSListener, for example, OracleTNSListener, and
OracleServicename_of_db services, for example, OracleServicesamdb,
show a status of started and that the startup type is Automatic.
If the service has not started, right-click on the service name from the
services list and choose Start from the contextual menu. If the startup
type is set to Manual instead of Automatic, right-click on the service
name in the services list and choose Properties from the contextual
menu. Set the Startup type to Automatic.

On Solaris platforms, use the client GUI status bar to view the database
status.
Ensure that database configuration is correct, as specified in the
5620 SAM | 5650 CPAM Installation and Upgrade Guide.
Go to the installation_directory/install/config/samdb directory or folder
where installation_directory is the database installation directory; for example,
/opt/5620sam/samdb
Start oracleproxy.sh or oracleproxy.bat and pass the appropriate flag as a
parameter.

Description
Starts the 5620 SAM database Oracle proxy. Use of this
should not be necessary, as the proxy starts by default
following installation.
Lists available flag options.
Provides information about the installed proxy version.
Provides information about the proxy status.
