Capacitor Trip Device

The capacitor trip device is an a u x i l i ary t r i p p i n g option p rovid­
ing a short term means of sto ring adeq u ate electrical energy
to ensure breaker t r i p p i n g .
T h i s device i s a p p l i e d i n breaker i n stallations lacking i n depen­
dent auxili ary control power o r statio n battery. In such i n stal­
lations, control power i s usually de rived from the primary source.
I n the event of a pri mary sou rce fault, o r d i stu rbance with at-
tendant depression of the primary source voltag e , the capac­
itor trip device will provide short term tripping energy for breaker
ope n i n g due to relay operation.
