Once a year. a g e n e ral v i s u a l i n s pection should be p e rformed
on de-energ i zed breakers. and if necessary the exposed i n ­
su lati ng parts w i p e d w i t h a rag .
Where the appl ication i m poses d u sty or oth e r severe ambient
condition and/or frequent switc h i ng operat1ons the following
i n s pection checks shou l d be more freq uently applied than for
normal mai ntenance.

Inspection Check List

Check vac u u m , p roced u re follows.
2 .
Check contact erosion , proced u re follows.
3.
C lean circuit b reaker, especially post i n s u l ators and i n s u ­
l a t i n g couplers.
4 .
Lubricate a l l beari n g s and s l i d i ng s u rfaces, p roced u re and
mate ri a l s follow.
5.
Check a l l terminal sc rews .
6.
Check all sc rew connections and locking devices on
mechanism parts.
7 .
Check all control cables and connections.
8 .
Perform f u nctional test of c i rc u it breaker.

Hand Tools Recommended

The MSV and FSV b reakers e m p loy both E n g l ish and Metric
fasteners . Metric fasteners are confined to t h e c i rc u i t b reaker
subassembly. The s u p porting d raw-out ve h i c l e uses E n g l ish
sizes. The fol l owing tool l i st has been prepare d primarily to
identify the tool req u i rements.
