Safety Considerations For
Operation
1. During the initial operation, salt level should be above water level in the
cabinet.
2. To operate properly, there should be always adequate quantity of salt. The
salt level should always be at least 1/3 full.
3. Refill the salt when the level drops below the water level in the brine
cabinet.
4. Please use only the recommended types of resin and salt for regeneration.
A clean pellet, solar, or cube type salt is recommended. Do not use rock
salt. Never mix different types of salt.
5. You may use a salt substitute (such as potassium chloride) in place of water
conditioner salt. A Hague dealer should be contacted before a switch is
made to a salt substitute. If potassium chloride is used in place of salt, the
technician must select the potassium option during the programming of
the controller (see Service Settings).
Caution: Do not use potassium chloride if your water contains iron and/or
manganese.
6. The input water pressure must be between 0.14 ve 0.48 Mpa (1.4-4.8
Bars), no negative pressure allowed.
Caution: If inlet water pressure is higher than 0.48 Mpa, we recommend to
install a Pressure Reducer before the system.
7. If dirt, sand, or large particles are present in the water supply, we
reccoment to install an appropriate A.O. Smith pre-filter to eliminate this
problem before the system.
8. During regeneration time, water from tap will NOT be softened. It is not
recommended to use water during regeneration; otherwise, a negative
effect on the regeneration result will occur.
9. Initiate a regeneration cycle after water softener's long period of
inactivation. After regeneration, turn on the tap for several minutes before
resuming normal use.
10. DO NOT disconnect power during service time to keep the timer run
normal that controls the regeneration function.
11. Should your electricity be off for any reason, check your controller for the
correct time and reset as necessary (see Customer Settings).
12. If water usage or hardness of raw water dramatically increases
(comparing to the normal usage), the frequency of
regeneration should correspondingly increase.
13. Hot water could cause severe damage to the softener system; for water
boiler and water heater users, ensure the total-run of the piping between
the water softener and the boiler is a minimum 3 meters. if it is unable to
meet the required piping length, to use a one-way security valve between
the water softener and the boiler is stongly recommended.
14. No chemical allowed at the inlet and outlet connecting sectors. No
excessive force which can damage the plactic conjunction parts should
be applied by any tools. Besides the machine, spare part connection
material doesn't include in scope of manufacture's warranty.
15. The required environmental temperature for softener is 4-49 °C. Avoid the
water softener from freezing.
16. Please set up waterspout on the floor nearby the softener in case of any
leaking accidents.
17. DO NOT apply any pressure on the softener; avoid exposure to direct sun
light and radiation from other heating sources;
