Personalizing
• See Contacts – Editing Contacts – Setting a Ringtone for a Contact for how to assign a
special ringtone to an individual contact.
• When selecting ringtones or sounds, tap the Music or Recording tab to select an
audio file saved on the phone or the microSDHC card.

Turning System Sounds On/Off

1. Press the Home Key >
> Settings > Sound > Other sounds.
2. Tap Dial pad tones, Screen locking sounds, Charging sounds, Touch sounds,
Vibrate on tap, or Power up tone to turn each option on or off. Tap Emergency tone
and select Alert, Vibrate, or Silent.

Adjusting Volumes

1. Press the Home Key >
> Settings > Sound.
2. Drag the sliders below Media volume, Alarm volume, Ring volume, and
Notification volume to adjust the volume for each type of audio.
NOTE: You can adjust the media volume when a media application is in use by pressing
the Volume Key. If no media application is active, press the Volume Key to adjust
ringtone volume (or the earpiece volume during a call), or tap
slider to adjust other types of volume.

Switching Notification Mode

Press the Home Key >
> Settings > Sound > Notification mode and select an option.
Switching to Silent or Vibration Mode
You can set the phone to silent or vibration mode using one of the following methods:
• Press the Volume Key when no media application is active to show the volume
management window. Drag the slider to the left or keep pressing the Volume Down
Key to switch the phone to vibration mode. Press the key again in vibration mode to
switch the phone to silent mode.

• Swipe down from the top of the screen to open the Notification Panel, and drag

NOTE: In addition to silent mode and vibration, you can also allow priority apps to send
out notifications when you switch the phone to priority interruption mode.

Using Do Not Disturb Mode

You can limit interruptions with Do not disturb mode. This mode silences your phone so
that it doesn't make sounds or vibrate when you don't want it to.
Turning on Do Not Disturb Mode
1. Press the Home Key >
2. Tap Do not disturb and choose an option:
and drag a volume
3. If you have selected Always or Scheduled, tap Disturb rules and choose an option:
NOTES:
• To set a Do not disturb exception for a specific app, press the Home Key >
the panel downward. Tap Sound, Vibrate, or Silent to switch the phone to vibrate or
silent mode or turn on the sound (see Knowing the Basics – Managing Notifications –
Using Quick Settings).
> Settings > Sound > Notification mode and select
Vibrate or Mute to switch to vibration or silent mode.
> Settings > Sound > Do not disturb.
• Tap Never to disable the feature.
• Tap Always to immediately enable the feature.
• Tap Scheduled to enable the feature for a selected time period. Under Set schedule,
tap Days, Start time, and End time to make selections.
– Priority only: Only notifications you have marked as priority are allowed. Set these
under Priority interruptions.
– Alarms only: Only alarms are allowed.
– Total silence: No notifications are allowed.
Settings > Notifications. Select the app you want, and then tap to enable Override
Do Not Disturb to allow its notifications in Priority only mode.
