Troubleshooting

Problem
Nothing happens when the
trigger is pulled.
LED comes on, but bar code
does not decode.
Bar code reading ability has
degraded.
Bar code is decoded but not
transmitted to the host.

Possible Cause
No power to the reader.
Interface or power cables are
loose.
Reader not programmed for
correct bar code type.
Bar code label is unreadable.
Distance between reader
and bar code is incorrect.
Bar code label is too wide
Scan Window has become
dirty.
Reader not programmed for
the correct host type.
Possible Solutions
Check system power. Ensure
power supply is connected.
Ensure all cable connections are
secure.
Ensure reader is programmed to
read the type of bar code scanned.
Refer to the Product Reference
Guide (PRG) for more information.
Check the label to ensure it is not
defaced. Try scanning another bar
code type.
Move reader closer to or further
from the bar code.
Move scanner away from bar code
label.
Clean window using a soft, lint-
free cloth dampened with water.
Scan the appropriate host type bar
code. Refer to the Product Refer-
ence Guide (PRG) for more infor-
mation.
