1
Attach the following cables according to the way you labeled them
in section 2, step
3.
If you did not label your cables and are un-
sure of how to replace them, refer to the following list and your
Workstation User Guide
for additional cabling information:
Keyboard cable-Plug into the appropriate keyboard connector.
Serial printer cable-Plug into the appropriate COM port and
tighten the screws. M300 Workstations cannot use COMl for a
printer.
Dial-access modem cable-Plug into the appropriate COM port
and tighten the screws. M300 Workstations cannot use COM2 for
a
modem.
Parallel printer cable-Plug into LPTl or LPT2
,
and tighten the
screws
Monitor video display cable-Plug into the monitor adapter
socket and tighten the
screws.
CD drive connection cable-Attach one end to the CD control-
ler board outlet. Attach the other end to either connector on the
CD drive case. Use the small Phillips-head screwdriver to tighten
the screws. If you are installing a second CD drive, attach one end
of the cable to the port on the existing CD drive and the other end
to
either port on the new CD unit.
Data cable-Usually, attach to the OCLC 1/0 Board if it is the last
workstation in a
chain.
The exception is the M300 Workstation,
where you attach the data cable to the DATA SET port on the
OCLC Interface Panel (sometimes called the "dog house")
.
Y-cable-Use with workstations in a dedicated-line chain. At-
tach to the ports of the OCLC 1/0 Boards in every workstation
except the last one in the chain. Attach the data and/or chain-
ing cables to theY-cable. Do not use a Y-cable with
a single
workstation
or
with an M300 Workstation with a Version 1
1/0 Board.
If
you attach a Y-cable from the l/0 Board of the last workstation
in the
chain,
the end of the cable that is labeled for the NEXT CRT
has no port to attach to, so it dangles
.
When a cable
dangles,
it
works as an antenna and interferes with the
system.
AC power cord-Plug one end into the system unit's AC power
connector and the other into an AC wall outlet.
Monitor power cord-Plug into the appropriate video power con-
nector on the workstation or into an AC wall
outlet.
CD drive power cord-Plug into the power cord outlet on the back
of the CD drive case and the other end into an AC wall
outlet.
