SECTION IV
THEORY OF OPERATION
Page 4-1
Following is a simplified block diagram of the RMC 15 Remote Control System.
The system
~s
naturally broken into two basic functions, control and telemetry.
The Studio Unit, the RMC l5S originates, than transmits, control signals.
The
Transmitter Unit, the RMC l5T receives the control signals and interprets them
into raise/lower and channel commands.
Also the Transmitter Unit selects voltage
samples and
reeeives
the status A and B inputs,' converting and transmitting this
information as telemetry signals.
The Studio Unit receives the telemetry signaLs,
interpreting -thenras"numerlcal and indicaf'6'i" displays.
The crystal based communications circuits are similar in both the Transmitter
and studio Units
~n
that parallel input lines, either channel select lines or en-
coded digits, are converted to serial two-state logic pulses.
These are expressed
as one of two tones FSK.
These frequencies are transmitted to the other end of the
system where they are detected back into two-state logic pulses, then converted
from serial to parallel output lines used in channel selection or data displays.
Four different sections of control and telemetry logic circuits exclusive of
related FSK generation and detection, will be discussed in following sections.
For
details of the circuitry and theory of the communications boards, refer to the
Modem Manual.
