ServeRAID Controller
Hardware Installation
This chapter describes the procedures used to install the ServeRAID
M5120 SAS/SATA controller. It consists of the following sections:
•
Section 2.1, "Requirements"
•
Section 2.2, "Quick Installation"
•
Section 2.3, "Detailed Installation"
•
Section 2.4, "After Installing the Controller"
•
Section 2.5, "Connecting the Controller to a Drive Enclosure"
The following items are required for installation:
•
A ServeRAID M5120 SAS/SATA controller
•
A host system with an available PCI Express expansion slot
•
The ServeRAID M Documentation CD containing the documentation
•
The necessary x4 external mini-SAS cables
•
Enclosures containing SAS drives, SATA drives, or a combination of
both disk types (Mechanical or Solid State Devices, SSDs)
•
The transportable memory module for your controller
Note:
For optimal performance, use an uninterruptible power
supply.
