Auto Provisioning
Auto configuration plays a very important role in a massive phones' deployment. With auto
provisioning application, IP phones are all plug and play while installation. AEI uses DHCP
option 66, a standard TFTP server and an AEI configure file creator to achieve the goal. By
default for all AEI IP phones, they are auto configuration enabled with DHCP option 66.
Meaning that, a phone get TFTP server IP address at the same time when it acquired IP
address from a DHCP server. Then the phone goes to the TFTP server request a configure file
named by its MAC address, for example, 000e43c00123.cfg. And if the file is there on the
TFTP root folder, it will download and provisioning the configuration.
In short, there are three steps to setup the network environment.
1. Setup a TFTP server in the network. (AEI recommends TFTPD32).
2. Configure Option 66 on the DHCP server.
3. Use the configure file creator provided by AEI.
