Dismantling

To
disassemb

the
filling hole, dr ain
off
th
e

a
n
d wash
th
e
inn
e
r
space with ke rosene;
undo lhe
sc
rew
securing
th
e
brake
cam leve
r
and
r
emove
th
e
ca
m
;
unscrew
th
e dipst
ick;
undo
th
e screws secu
rin
g
the
gland cover,
remoYe th
e
cover
and
th
e co
ll
ar
ru.bb er
g land w
ith
the
sp
ring
;
un
sc
rew
t
he
nuts
sec
uring the
casing cove
r,
remove
the washers
a
nd
,
by
tapping the
end
of
the
driven
gear
hub
w
ith
a copper
ham
-
m er,
remove
the
cove
r
with
th
e
gasket and the
driven
gear-
hub
as-
sembly;
remove the needle
ro
ll
ers
(45
pes)
and ad
justin
g
br
onze washer
from the
hub
;
remove
the driven
gear-hub assemb
ly
fro
m
the
casi
n
g cover.
To
do thi
s
,
insert
the rear
wheel
ax le into t he
central
opening from th
e
s
id
e
of
th
e
hub
so
that th
e ax le is
set ag
a
in
st t
he di
sta nce
bushin
g;
holding th
e
hub
by
han d,
knock
th
e
cover
off the bearing by
t
apping
th
e
ax le e
nd
;
press
out
th
e
ball bearing
from
th
e
hub throu
g
h
three specia
l
ho
les
made
in
it
;
when pres sing
out,
t
ake care
to
prevent
the bearing misalign-
m
ent
;
un
screw
th
e
nut fastening
th
e
driving
gear
bearing,
tu.rn
in
g
th
e
nut
clockw ise
(left-
hand thread);
insta
ll
the
cas
in
g in a vice
a
nd
, by
knocking
out the
radia
l thr
ust
bearing
through
the s lot
in
the casi ng
by
m
ea
ns
of
a
copper
drift,
remove
the gear;
remove
th
e a
dju sting
washers;
t
a ke
out the
nee
dl
es
of
th
e
dri
v
ing
gea
r
nee
dl
e
bearing from
th
e
cas
in
g.
Rep
lace
the defective
parts
,
if
any.
Re-assemble
the
m
a
in
dri
ve
in
reverse
order.
When
fitting
the
need le
roll
ers
into
th
e
bearings,
lubri
cate
their
seats
with grease and
take care
not to let the
rollers
fall
o
ut durin
assembly
of
the
mating m
embers
.
Use
a
mandrel
to fit
the
collar
g land
on
the
hu
b.
In doing
so, ca
re
mus
t
be
taken to en
s ure
th
at
the drain
hol
e
in th
e casing is
aligned with
th
e
special
hol
e
of
th
e
g la
nd
.
