This chapter provides basic operating information for the WVR610A & WVR611A Waveform Rasterizers. Overview The WVR610A & WVR611A use a flexible, tiled display. The waveform rasterizer can display four tiles at one time. Each tile can display a different measurement, effectively creating four independent instruments. See Figure 2- -1.
The only measurement that cannot be displayed in more than one tile is the Audio measurement. It can be displayed in only one tile at a time. Figure 2- 3: A display with multiple Status screens 2- 2 WVR610A & WVR611A Waveform Rasterizers Service Manual...

Exceptions are the Input buttons, and all audio features, both of which are global. Front-Panel Controls The following sections describe the front panel controls of the WVR610A & WVR611A. Tile Settings Each tile maintains its own settings independent of the other tiles, including GAIN and SWEEP, and display type among others.
Sets the active tile to 5X Gain Sets the active tile to Variable Gain. Gain is set using the GENERAL knob. Figure 2- 7: Gain buttons NOTE. The Gain controls are not enabled for all measurements. 2- 5 WVR610A & WVR611A Waveform Rasterizers Service Manual...

You can also display an SDI input as though it were a composite signal. Figure 2- -18 identifies the elements of the Waveform display and Table 2- -3 describes the meaning of the elements of the Waveform display. 2- 12 WVR610A & WVR611A Waveform Rasterizers Service Manual...
Vector Display The Vector display provides two display types: Vector and the Tektronix proprietary Lightning display (SDI signals only). The Vector display shows a plot of the R-Y signal on one axis and the B-Y signal on the other. It is useful for looking at hue and saturation of the colors, but does not show luminance information.
Pressing the MAG buttons enables you to adjust the horizontal gain using the GENERAL knob. Display type The selected display, either Lightning or Vector. Pressing the MEAS button displays a Tektronix proprietary display that greatly simplifies measuring the timing difference between two signals as the timing is corrected. Using the Tektronix Timing display enables you to easily compare and correct the timing between two digital signals.
This behavior may be evident on a sweep signal on 525 mode. Audio Display The Audio display provides level meters and a phase display for monitoring audio signals. The Audio display always shows the level meters and correlation 2- 16 WVR610A & WVR611A Waveform Rasterizers Service Manual...

Theory of Operation The WVR610A & WVR611A Waveform Rasterizers have serial digital and optional analog composite inputs. Optionally, they can also have analog only, digital only, or digital and analog audio capability. All models use an external XGA monitor for the display. This section covers the full capability, so some portions may not apply to a model with fewer features.

Audio DSP chips. A 96 kHz rate AES signal is not up-sampled. Analog inputs are digitized at 48 kHz and then go through the same up-sampling by the FPGA and processing by the DSP chips as the AES inputs. 3- 4 WVR610A & WVR611A Waveform Rasterizers Service Manual...
Faults are usually also sent independently to the control processor. For details about the circuits that can assert the fault light and their associated local LEDs, refer to the Troubleshooting on page 6- -5. 3- 5 WVR610A & WVR611A Waveform Rasterizers Service Manual...

Theory of Operation Power Supply and Distribution The power supply for the WVR610A & WVR611A has a universal AC input that enables it to accommodate 100 to 264 VAC without any user range switching. The output is 5 V DC, which is then converted to all the other necessary supply voltages by circuits at the point of usage.

Performance Verification This section contains a collection of manual procedures for checking that the WVR610A & WVR611A Waveform Rasterizers perform as warranted. The procedures are arranged in two basic sections: Incoming Inspection Procedures and Performance Verification Procedures. They check all the characteristics that are designated as checked in Specifications.

Performance Verification Incoming Inspection Procedures Use the following procedures to check the basic functionality of a WVR610A or WVR611A waveform rasterizer. The checks are arranged by model and option so that you can choose the sections that are appropriate for your instrument. The last two sections are for less critical waveform rasterizer features: the ground closure and Ethernet ports.

Performance Verification Video and General Performance Verification Procedures This section applies to both the WVR610A & WVR611A. The first portion is applicable for both, the later portion is only needed for the WVR611A model. Some “common” tests are done differently for the two models. These exception cases are indicated as being only for one model or the other.

013- - 0076- - 01 Note that the AVC1 is not available outside of Tektronix. Other equipment can be substituted but it might not have sufficient accuracy to guarantee the specifications. For Hum insertion, a general-purpose sine wave generator can be used to terminate and drive back into the video signal through appropriate impedance matching.
